Overview:
The Project Engineer is responsible for leading the development of the calculations behind the construction documents we produce. They will work to make decisions on, develop, maintain, organize, and document the design for each structural member. This role reports directly to the Project Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Complete engineering analysis and design of wood, masonry, concrete, and steel structures using Excel, RISA, EnerCalc, and other software.
- Compile initial plan and detail mark-ups showing member sizes, connections, and conditions.
- Finalize loading criteria based on project occupancy; develop project layouts and load-paths and present to Project Manager for review and collaboration.
- Perform quality control review of plans, details, annotations, and notes for accuracy.
- Coordinate, communicate, and collaborate with PEI design team for project budget, schedule, questions, conflicts, and statuses.
- Prepare accurate details, plans, reports, calculations, and other technical documents.
- Assist with client communication and coordination as determined by the Project Manager.
- Perform individual on-site observations and attend client meetings as necessary.
- Complete submittal and report reviews and compose RFI responses as assigned.
- Study and learn construction codes and practices through independent research.
- Maintain and comply with company standards and procedures.
- Function as Project Manager or Design Engineering on projects as required.
Qualifications:
- BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from ABET accredited program; MS preferred.
- 3-7 years relevant experience with state registration as PE; SE preferred.
- Versed in engineering concepts, theories, and practices as applied to structural design.
- Proficiency in RISA, EnerCalc, & Excel; working knowledge of AutoCAD & Revit.

- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, excellent verbal, written and decision-making acumen, with the ability to communicate with all levels of colleagues and clients.
